Who are the Moonchildren?
The Moonchildren, as they are currently understood, are humans with special abilities. They are the descendants of the Daughters of the Moon Mother who was believed to have walked the Earth a very long time ago. The Moonchildren are a mystery to the people of the New Era. Stories of their kind exist in the tales of old, but no one can truly explain why these humans exist with these special abilities.
While it is not understood why or for what purpose the Moon Mother had the Daughters, it is known that she had given a special unique gift to every Daughter, which is now reflected in every child born to that line.
It is speculated there may be twelve lines in total, but so far only three are currently known in the New Era:
• The Magi — From the line of Sahariel. Bestowed the gift of magic, the magi have limited control of the world around them, with magic being divided into three broad categories of healing, aiding, and warding. It is believed their gifts are to protect their fellow humans from the spirit world.
• The Desmonites — From the line of Desmoniel. Bestowed the gift of shapeshifting into vampire bats at will, their wings appear as tattoos on their backs. Their bloodsucking abilities are used to heal any human of blood diseases, whereas the same tactic used on Lupinites gives them strength. Seen as the protectors of the sky.
• The Lupinites — From the line of Dhibiniel. Also known as werewolves. Bestowed the gift of turning into wolves at will, the Lupinites present as generally more sturdy than the average human, able to survive more grievous injuries. With their heightened sense of smell, they are regarded as protectors of the lands.
